Your Mental State is Destroying Your Body (Here's Why)

Relapse prevention, addiction recovery, mindset, emotional triggers, and how your thoughts affect your body all come down to learning how to control your state.

Hello folks, John Paul DeMann here.

In this video, I talk about something that hit me while watching a woman speak about a painful moment in her life. As she started crying, it reminded me of something I believe deeply: the mind affects the body, and the body affects the mind.

We all understand how the body can affect the mind. Stub your toe, feel pain, cry, get angry, or feel off for the rest of the day.

But the reverse is just as powerful.

A thought about the past, present, or future can create a physical reaction in the body. That thought can create emotion. That emotion can create action. And that action can create an outcome.

This is especially important when it comes to addiction recovery.

Addiction is often about trying to change the way we feel. We use, act out, or fall back into old habits because we are trying to change our state. But when we learn to recognize the pain, understand the trigger, and control our internal state, we give ourselves a much better chance at preventing relapse.

This video is for anyone working through addiction, relapse prevention, emotional triggers, or even bad habits that keep showing up in their life.

You can control more than you think.

And sometimes, recovery begins by understanding what is happening inside your own mind.
