Why Your Body Is Reflecting Your Negative Thoughts
Addiction relapse, emotional triggers, mindset, recovery, and the connection between the mind and body are all deeply connected.
In this video, I share a simple but powerful idea: the mind affects the body, and the body affects the mind.
We understand this when it comes to physical pain. If you stub your toe, your body instantly affects your emotions. But the reverse is also true. A thought about pain from the past, fear in the present, or worry about the future can create a very real physical reaction.
That matters in addiction recovery.
Addiction is often about trying to change the way we feel. We use substances, habits, or behaviors to change our state. But if we can start recognizing the thought, emotion, and physical response before it turns into action, we can begin protecting ourselves from relapse.
The process is simple:
An experience creates a thought.
A thought creates an emotion.
An emotion creates an action.
An action creates an outcome.
When we learn to recognize and control our state, we give ourselves a better chance to choose differently.
This video is for anyone in recovery, anyone trying to break a bad habit, or anyone who wants to better understand how powerful the mind-body connection really is.
